Facial Resurfacing Treatment with Deka Laser Systems

In laser skin resurfacing, a laser is used to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The laser dermatology procedure is commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes. However, it is also effective in treating facial scars or areas of uneven pigmentation. Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Often, the procedure is done in conjunction with another cosmetic operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
In addition to laser resurfacing treatments for dermatology issues, there are several different treatments to reduce the signs of aging including dermabrasion and chemical peels. These can also be effective on shallow scars such as acne scars and tighten the skin a little. Some laser treatments can be used to treat certain skin cancers, but this is very specialized.
This treatment can be used for specific parts of the face or all over it. The laser is moved across the skin and removes or destroys the very superficial layers. Sometimes, deeper layers of the dermis may be removed. The treatment is usually done under local anaesthetic, sometimes with sedation, or occasionally under a general anaesthetic. Afterwards, the skin is very red and raw, and may need to be covered with dressings and creams for a few days. The skin takes 7 to 10 days to heal, but may still be red for several weeks.
The laser makes it possible to change tissue without making an incision. So a surgeon can treat birthmarks or damaged blood vessels, remove port wine stains, and shrink facial "spider veins" without major surgery.
Is it any wonder that many facial plastic surgeons use lasers on a routine basis. They use the laser as a "light scalpel." The tissue is left sterile, and bleeding is greatly reduced.
Types of laser skin surgery
Laser Skin Peeling - Lasers can be used to reduce wrinkles around the lips or eyes, even the entire face, softening fine wrinkles and removing certain blemishes on the face.
Laser Removal of Birthmarks and skin Lesions - Port wine stain birthmarks respond remarkably will to laser treatment. The abnormal blood vessels that cause these marks are reduced in size by the laser. This results in a lightening of the treated area. Skin growths, facial "spider veins," warts, and some tattoos respond to laser surgery. Most situations take more than one laser treatment, but some respond to a single treatment. The facial plastic surgeon often uses the minimum laser intensity possible. The low intensity requires many treatments. However, the low intensity also preserves as much of the healthy tissue as possible. This produces an aesthetically pleasing result. Many of these laser surgeries are performed as outpatient treatments in hospitals or offices.
